Summer Program General Information 2008
The Advanced Level is for the pre-professional student. In addition to a full program of classical training, there are coaching sessions, partnering and men's classes to complete the curriculum. Apprentice opportunities are available for exceptional senior students. The Intermediate Level offers all aspects of classical technique, including pointe and variations. The Junior Program consists of a full, three week course of studies in ballet and related art forms. Students will participate in all aspects of the program with careful attention given to their individual needs, especially their introduction to pointe work. Accommodations and Fees.... Resident Students are housed in a modern, air-conditioned residence hall. A lounge with kitchen and laundry facilities is available on each floor. A meal card is issued at registration for use at all campus eateries. Tuition, room and board: $3,200 Commuting Students arrive at 9 am Monday through Friday and 10 am on Saturdays They may bring lunch from home or buy it on campus. Commuters are welcome to participate in all evening activities, classes, and performances. Tuition: $1,900 Other Activities... Festival Night - Students perform for each other. The program is prepared by students with the supervision and support from members of the staff. Final Public Performance - Includes dances choreographed by members of the faculty for each level. The program is complemented by a variety of lectures and activities designed to explore related subjects such as dance history, music, audition skills, injury prevention, nutrition, choreography, and the art of makeup. Many additional activities are planned for those interested, including a trip to New York City to see a performance and sightsee (additional fee). There will be shopping, movies, social dance evening and pilates. Swimming is available on the Hofstra campus for resident students. |
