Summer Program Faculty 2008
Ali Pourfarrokh Artistic Director of the Eglevsky Ballet, was trained at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet School and American Ballet Theater School in New York. As a leading dancer, he performed nationally and internationally with various companies including the Joffrey Ballet, Harkness Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Frankfurt Opera Ballet, and Culberg Ballet in Sweden. He was Associate Artistic Director and Ballet Master of Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theater, Artistic Director of the Iranian National Ballet, Dance Theater of Long Island and the Alberta Ballet in Canada and is internationally recognized as a choreographer and master teacher. He is currently on the faculty at Adelphi University and the American Theater Dance Workshop and guest choreographer for the New Jersey Ballet. Kristen McGrew, a Tennessee native, has danced with companies throughout the Eastern United States, Tennessee Festival Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, and Ballet Theater Pennsylvania to name a few. She has performed as guest artist with the Westchester Ballet, Bravo! Dance, and the Harrisburg Dance Conservatory. Kristen is currently Ballet Mistress of the Eglevsky Ballet. Tuvshin Bold trained at the Kiev in Russia. He was a principal dancer with the Mongolian State Ballet, the Hungarian State Ballet, and the Ochi International Ballet in Japan. Tuvshin is a leading dancer with the New Jersey Ballet where he dances most of the principal roles in the classical repertiore. Jennifer McKelvey was born in South Korea and raised in California. She is a graduate of the Juilliard Dance Division with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree. Since then, she has danced with several ballet companies such as: Central California Ballet, New York Theater Ballet, Staten Island Ballet and Eglevsky Ballet where she was a principal dancer for many years. She is currently on faculty at Studio Maestro, a prominent ballet school in New York City and at The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and is attending graduate school at Hofstra University to obtain her PhD in School and Clinical Psychology. Vitaly Verterich trained at the Kiev Ballet School and the Moscow Academy of Art. After graduating, he danced solo roles in classical and contemporary works with the Russian Chamber Ballet Theatre, and often appeared as a guest with the Bolshoi and Kirov in 1998. Vitaly was a principal with Moscow Folk Ballet when Michael Flatley invited him to join RIverdance. Vitaly toured Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States with RIverdance on Broadway. Gregory Askins joins our faculty with impressive credentials in both music and dance. He has performed as a principal dancer with the Alberta Ballet and Ballet West. He has choreographed for many companies and local youth groups, conducted dance residencies in New York City public schools and taught extensively. Trained as a classical guitarist, he has had a distinguished concert career. He is currently on the faculty of Peridance International Inc., in New York City. Katrina Heidelberger teaches theater dance, musical theater, and tap at the American Theater Dance Workshop. As coordinator of their Repertory Company, she works closely with leading Broadway performers and choreographers. She has performed with many dance companies in NYC and is currently in high demand as a director and choreographer on Long Island. Guest Faculty.....
